Dodge Charger Daytona
The Charger EV is already different as it is the first electric muscle car, but it can further be differentiated from its gas version by the word "Daytona" included in the name. The Charger Daytona comes in two trims, the R/T and the more powerful Scat pack, both powered by a 93.9-kWh battery which sends power to the 400-volt dual motor system, which sends power to the front and rear wheels. A 15 second power boost button allows the R/T to generate a maximum of 496 horsepower, and a muscle car worthy 670 horsepower for the Scat Pack trim. These figures propel the R/T to 60 miles per hour in about 4.9 seconds and the Scat pack in 3.3 seconds.
There is a front/rear one-gear offset gearbox responsible for transferring all this power to the wheels, a sport suspension in the R/T, and a competition suspension with adaptive damping for the Scat pack to keep you planted on the road. The R/T has brakes on all four wheels, with the Scat pack having the Brembo ultra-high performance brake system.
The R/T trim has a range of 308 miles, and the Scat Pack can drive up to 241, but these numbers change depending on the type of tire used. Both trims use a 11kW charger which comes standard.
The Charger Daytona comes well equipped with standard features such as 18-inch wheels, passive keyless entry, dual front automatic air
conditioner, adaptive cruise control with traffic stop & go, a 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 10.3-inch instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android auto, and Alexa built-in come standard, along with a wireless phone charger, navigation, Wi-fi hotspot and a charging locator to make the charging experience go smoothly.
The Scat pack trim adds more features including the 16-inch ultra-high performance Brembo brakes, a high-performance adaptive damping suspension, bright aluminum pedals, a heads-up display, launch control, and additional driving modes including a custom drive mode, drag mode, drift mode, and track mode. The Scat pack also features a 16-inch colour driver display with a 180-mph primary speedometer, instead of the 140 mph 10.25-inch driver display that comes standard.
In any trim, the Charger Daytona certainly needs to include safety features unless you're at the track and you really know what you're doing, and they include traction control with electronic stability control, front air bags, driver and passenger knee airbags, front side airbags, and side-curtain front and rear airbags. Front parking sensors and a rear camera system help the driver park, a feature called Park Sense and ParkView. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, Lane Keeping with Lane centering, Front cross-traffic - Active collision avoidance, Blind spot with active collision assist, Driver attention alert and even Hill-start assist.
