The S-Class continues to deliver a sophisticated, technology-rich driving experience that balances performance capabilities with refined comfort, maintaining its position as a benchmark in the luxury sedan segment.
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is available in three distinct models: S 500, S 580, and S 580e. Each model is differentiated primarily by its powertrain configuration and specialized features.
The S 500 features a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged mild-hybrid engine generating 442 horsepower and 413 lb.-ft of torque. Moving up to the S 580 brings a 4.0-liter V8 twin turbo engine with mild-hybrid assistance, producing 496 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft of torque. The S 580e utilizes a plug-in hybrid system combining a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged engine with an electric motor for a total system output of 510 horsepower. All models channel power through a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission paired with 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
Performance across the lineup is notable, with the S 500 capable of reaching 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, the S 580 in 4.3 seconds, and the S 580e in 4.8 seconds. All models are electronically limited to a top speed of 130 mph.
The S-Class driving experience is enhanced by the AIRMATIC air suspension system with adaptive damping. The suspension continuously adjusts to road conditions, providing a balanced combination of comfort and control. DYNAMIC SELECT allows drivers to customize various vehicle parameters through different driving modes to match preferences and conditions.
Inside, the S-Class continues to highlight Mercedes-Benz's commitment to luxury and technology. The cabin features a 12.8-inch touchscreen center display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system includes voice control, navigation, and wireless smartphone integration for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard amenities include a 15-speaker surround sound system, heated and ventilated front seats with massage function, panorama roof, as well as wireless connectivity and charging capabilities.
The S 580 and S 580e models add standard Nappa leather upholstery, heated steering wheel, and Active Ambient Lighting. The S 580e also includes Direct Current charging capability for its plug-in hybrid system.
Safety features are comprehensive, including front and rear parking sensors, active lane departure, active blind spot, forward collision mitigation with left turn assist, rear collision mitigation, front pedestrian detection, a driver attention alert, traffic sign information system with speed limit assist, and front cross traffic mitigation.
